They also help in formation and function of myelin. Ceramides containing hydroxy fatty acid are synthesized by NAD(P)H-dependent enzyme, fatty acid 2-hydroxylase (FA2H). These hFA-sphingolipids facilitate the epidermal permeability barrier function. |
